Sometimes you just want to drop into a raid alone, farm some materials, and zone out without your squad instantly blowing up your notifications. We’ve all been there. Unfortunately, Arc Raiders doesn't make this easy.
The game lacks a native, built-in "Appear Offline" toggle within its own social menus. Because your presence is tied directly to your universal Embark ID, going incognito requires a platform-level workaround.
Here is exactly how to go invisible on PC, Xbox, and PS5, along with the major blind spots you need to know about before you think you're completely safe.
How to Go Invisible by Platform
PC (Steam)
This method is fully effective for anyone on your standard Steam friends list.
  1. Open Overlay: Press Shift + Tab while the game is running.
  2. Access Friends: Click on your Friends List.
  3. Toggle Status: Click the drop-down arrow right next to your profile avatar.
  4. Select Invisible: Set your status to Invisible or Offline.
Xbox Series X/S
This hides your status from other players browsing the Xbox dashboard or Xbox-specific game rosters.
  1. Open Guide: Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. Select Profile: Navigate to the far-right tab, click your Profile picture, and select "My profile."
  3. Change Presence: Scroll down and select the "Appear online" drop-down menu.
  4. Go Dark: Click "Appear offline."
PlayStation 5
This keeps you hidden from other PlayStation Network users browsing their console lists.
  1. Profile Setup: Go to the PS5 home screen and select your profile icon in the top right.
  2. Select Status: Click on "Online Status."
  3. Toggle Off: Choose "Appear Offline" from the options.
  4. Alternative Shortcut: You can also press the Options/Menu button over your profile picture before logging into your PS5 user account to sign directly into offline mode from the start.
The Cross-Play Blind Spot (Read Before You Raid)
Before you launch into a solo run thinking you are completely invisible, there are two massive catches you need to look out for.
  • The Embark ID Loophole: This is the big one. If you have friends added across different platforms via your external Embark ID, console-level privacy settings cannot block your activity. For example, if you are playing on Xbox and set yourself to "Appear Offline," a friend playing on PC can still look at their in-game cross-play roster and see that you are active.
  • The Raid Timer Clue: Even if you are hidden on PC via Steam's "Invisible" mode, the system can sometimes betray you. An "Invisible" status can occasionally show an "Offline" tag right next to a live activity timer. If a friend notices it says you've been "Offline" but you also have a timer saying you've been "In a raid for 3 minutes," the secret is out.
If you truly want 100% isolation to farm in peace, your best bet is to temporarily disable cross-play in your settings if your main friend group plays on other platforms. Otherwise, just brace yourself for the inevitable "Hey, I see you online" message!
